Consilium Safety Group builds fire and gas detection for industrial and marine sites, and has grown by acquisition into three distinct product lines — industrial gas detection, Micropack flame detection, and UniPOS fire detection and alarm. SATU Innovative supplies, installs, commissions and maintains Consilium systems in Thailand, and engineers them into the wider fire protection scheme rather than dropping in loose devices.

Industrial gas detection

Fixed detection is built around the ST series. The ST650EX is the all-round combustible gas detector: ATEX and IECEx certified, with a replaceable sensor available as catalytic bead (CAT), infrared (NDIR), thermal conductivity (TCD) or Molecular Property Spectrometer (MPS), so the sensing technology is matched to the actual gas rather than to whatever the panel shipped with. It offers self-diagnostics, a 4–20 mA output, an optional graphic display with capacitive key control, and remote sensor mounting on cable runs up to 150 m — which puts the sensor where the gas collects and the transmitter where maintenance can reach it.

The wider fixed range covers ST450EC for toxic gases, ST350EX variants including NDIR and PID versions, ST150-PID and ST350EX-PID for volatile organic compounds, ST150xi and ST480xi, and the PG11 / PGE11 detectors with duct kits for ventilation and process ducting. Controllers are the CGD50 and the CGD500 Touch.

Portable instruments cover the same ground for confined-space entry, hot-work permits and leak surveys: MGT-P and MGT-N multi-gas, ECOTOX and ECOTOX PLUS single-gas, and Ultra PID for VOCs.

Flame detection — Micropack

Micropack Engineering of Aberdeen joined Consilium in 2016 and is the group’s flame detection arm, building explosion-proof detectors for hazardous areas alongside fire and gas mapping consultancy.

  • FDS303 — multi-spectrum infrared (IR3), independently tested to detect a hydrocarbon pan fire at nearly 200 ft in under 5 seconds. Continuous optical self-test without a reflector, microprocessor-controlled heated optics for snow, ice and condensation, and adjustable sensitivity so detectors do not cross-vote.
  • FDS301 and FDS300 — intelligent Visual Flame Detectors (iVFD) that process live video on board. Independently tested to show no sensitivity loss in modulated sunlight or black-body heat, the conditions that cause nuisance alarms on flare-lit plants. A micro-SD card records video either side of every alarm, so incidents are investigated rather than argued about, and a live colour video stream is available.
  • FS301 — long-range flame simulator for functional testing from ground level, which removes most of the scaffolding from a test campaign.

All carry FM, ATEX and IECEx approvals with certified performance testing to FM 3260 and EN 54-10, are SIL 2 capable, output alarm and fault relays, 0–20 mA and HART, and carry a five-year warranty. Micropack also provides F&G mapping using Hazmap3D, which is how coverage is justified rather than assumed.

Fire detection and alarm — UniPOS

UniPOS supplies analogue addressable, conventional and wireless fire detection, together with the panels and ancillaries that complete a system to EN 54.

  • Addressable panelsIFS7000 and IFS7002 (also IFS7002R), with fully programmable loop devices, bidirectional data exchange and short-circuit and fault detection on the loop.
  • Conventional panelsFS4000, FS5100 and the FS5200 family, with four access levels to EN 54-2 and battery backup.
  • Addressable detectorsFD7130 optical smoke, FD7110 / FD7120 heat, FD7160, and FD7201 / FD7201S infrared flame detectors compliant with EN 54-10 for premises where other detector types do not suit.
  • Conventional detectors — the FD8010, FD8020, FD8030 and FD8060 range.
  • AncillariesFD3050 manual call points in several colours, sounders and visual indicators, FD7203 / FD7204 input-output modules, a beam optical smoke detector covering 5–50 m with a single prism or 50–100 m with a quadruple reflector, and GSM dialler modules for remote alarm transmission.

What SATU delivers

Equipment on its own does not pass a commissioning test. We take detection from concept to record: hazard and coverage study, detector selection and layout, cause-and-effect matrices and alarm logic, panel and PLC or DCS integration, installation, commissioning and acceptance testing, then calibration and maintenance on a documented schedule. Gas detectors need periodic bump testing and calibration to stay credible, and we plan that in rather than leaving it to discover later.
