Consilium Safety Gas and Flame Detection Systems for Thailand

Detect the leak. See the flame. Prove the alarm.

Consilium Safety Group builds fire, flame and gas detection for the marine, energy, industrial, infrastructure and rolling-stock sectors. Its own gas detection dates from 1959 and fire detection from 1967, and it has added specialist brands by acquisition — Micropack for flame detection and UniPOS for fire alarm, alongside Microdata, Daspos and ISE. The three lines SATU supplies in Thailand are industrial gas detection, Micropack flame detection and UniPOS fire detection and alarm. SATU Innovative supplies, installs, commissions and maintains fire and gas detection systems built on Consilium equipment in Thailand, and engineers them into the wider fire protection scheme rather than dropping in loose devices.

Fixed detection is built around the ST series. The ST650EX is the all-round combustible gas detector: ATEX and IECEx certified, with a replaceable sensor available as catalytic bead (CAT), infrared (NDIR), thermal conductivity (TCD) or Molecular Property Spectrometer (MPS), so the sensing technology is matched to the actual gas rather than to whatever the panel shipped with. It offers self-diagnostics, a 4–20 mA output, an optional graphic display with capacitive key control, and remote sensor mounting on cable runs up to 150 m — which puts the sensor where the gas collects and the transmitter where maintenance can reach it.

The wider fixed range covers ST450EC for toxic gases, ST350EX variants including NDIR and PID versions, ST150-PID and ST350EX-PID for volatile organic compounds, ST150xi and ST480xi, and the PG11 / PGE11 detectors with duct kits for ventilation and process ducting. Controllers are the CGD50 and the CGD500 Touch.

Portable instruments cover the same ground for confined-space entry, hot-work permits and leak surveys: MGT-P and MGT-N multi-gas, ECOTOX and ECOTOX PLUS single-gas, and Ultra PID for VOCs.

Flame detection — Micropack

Micropack Engineering of Aberdeen joined Consilium in 2016 and is the group’s flame detection arm, building explosion-proof detectors for hazardous areas alongside fire and gas mapping consultancy.

  • FDS303 — multi-spectrum infrared (IR3), independently tested to detect a hydrocarbon pan fire at nearly 200 ft in under 5 seconds. Continuous optical self-test without a reflector, microprocessor-controlled heated optics for snow, ice and condensation, and adjustable sensitivity so detectors do not cross-vote.
  • FDS301 and FDS300 — intelligent Visual Flame Detectors (iVFD) that process live video on board. Both are independently tested to show no sensitivity loss in modulated sunlight or black-body heat, the conditions that cause nuisance alarms on flare-lit plants. The FDS301 adds a micro-SD card that records video either side of every alarm and a live colour video stream, so incidents are investigated rather than argued about.
  • FS301 — long-range flame simulator for functional testing from ground level, which removes most of the scaffolding from a test campaign.

The FDS301 and FDS303 carry FM, ATEX and IECEx approvals with certified performance testing to FM 3260 and EN 54-10, are SIL 2 capable, and output alarm and fault relays, 0–20 mA and HART. The FDS300 is FM 3260 performance-approved with relay and 0–20 mA outputs, and the FDS303 carries a five-year warranty; the FS301 is a hand-held ATEX-certified test device. Micropack also provides F&G mapping using Hazmap3D, which is how coverage is justified rather than assumed.

Fire detection and alarm — UniPOS

UniPOS supplies addressable and conventional fire detection, together with the panels, detectors and ancillaries that complete a system to EN 54.

  • Addressable panels — the IFS7000 interactive addressable system, with IFS7002/2 and IFS7002/4 panels and the IFS7002-R repeater, plus the current 7000M modular range. Panel and loop devices are fully programmable, with detection of short circuit or interruption in a loop, removed detectors and swapped detectors.
  • Conventional panelsFS4000, FS5100 and the FS5200 family, with four access levels to EN 54-2 and battery backup.
  • Addressable detectorsFD7130 optical smoke, FD7110 fixed-temperature and FD7120 rate-of-rise heat, and the FD7160M combined smoke-and-heat multi-sensor with built-in short-circuit isolator, certified to EN 54-5 / 7 / 17. FD7201 / FD7201S are conventional line-monitoring modules that bring conventional detection zones onto the addressable loop — for flame detection see the Micropack FDS range.
  • Conventional detectors — the FD8020S fixed-temperature and FD8020R rate-of-rise heat detectors, FD8030 optical smoke, and FD8060 combined smoke and heat.
  • AncillariesFD3050 manual call points, sounders and beacons including the addressable FD7204, FD7203 addressable input/output modules (3 inputs / 6 outputs), the DOP6001 beam optical smoke detector covering 5–50 m with a single prism or 50–100 m with a quadruple reflector, and GSM dialler modules for remote alarm transmission.

What SATU delivers

Equipment on its own does not pass a commissioning test. We take detection from concept to record: hazard and coverage study, detector selection and layout, cause-and-effect matrices and alarm logic, panel and PLC or DCS integration, installation, commissioning and acceptance testing, then calibration and maintenance on a documented schedule. Gas detectors need periodic bump testing and calibration to stay credible, and we plan that in rather than leaving it to discover later.

For the engineering behind the equipment see safety & risk engineering services, and for how detection sits alongside suppression see our fire & gas detection systems. Where a route can catch fire anywhere along its length, AP Sensing fibre optic linear heat detection covers what point detectors cannot.
