SOLBERG® — PFAS-Free Class B Foam Concentrates for Energy, Marine and Industrial Sites

From Perimeter Solutions — the foam technology that retired AFFF. Authorized partner for Thailand: SATU Innovative.

Why SOLBERG, why now

SOLBERG® is the firefighting foam brand of Perimeter Solutions (NYSE: PRM), with manufacturing and R&D footprints across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. For more than four decades, SOLBERG has set the benchmark for low-expansion Class B foam — protecting oil terminals, refineries, LNG facilities, aircraft hangars, marine vessels and chemical plants worldwide.

SOLBERG made the strategic decision to exit fluorinated chemistry years before regulators forced the industry to do so. The result is the most complete fluorine-free, PFAS-free Class B foam range on the market — covering hydrocarbon and polar-solvent fuel fires, fixed-system and mobile applications, fresh and seawater service, ARFF (aircraft rescue and firefighting), and DoD MIL-SPEC requirements.

SATU Innovative is the authorized partner of SOLBERG for Thailand. Our role is more than supplying drums and totes: we engineer the system the foam will run in, calculate the right concentrate quantity to NFPA 11 / LASTFIRE / FM 5130, support PFAS phase-out planning under DIW Notification (PFOA banned 1 January 2026), and back the product with after-sales technical service.

PFAS-Free Class B Foam Concentrate Range

Five products, one strategic direction. Every product on this page is fluorine-free, contains no intentionally added PFAS (including PFOA and PFOS), no siloxane chemistries, and is biodegradable. Choose by certification, fuel type, and system architecture.

1) SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™ AS-100 — 3×3 AR-SFFF

The flagship multipurpose alcohol-resistant foam. Same 3% concentration on hydrocarbons and polar solvents — one foam, every Class B fire.

  • Concentration: 3% × 3% (hydrocarbons / polar solvents)
  • Certifications: UL 162, EN 1568:2018 Parts 1–4 (IA/IA on heptane and acetone), ICAO Level B, IMO MSC.1/Circ.1312, GreenScreen Silver
  • LASTFIRE batch-certified Good / Good / Good across semi-aspirated, aspirated and system nozzles
  • Use temperature 0 °C · freezing point −4 °C · shelf life 20+ years
  • Compatible with fresh, salt and brackish water; biodegradable, non-persistent
  • Best fit: oil terminal tank farms, marine vessels, refinery process areas, mixed-product depots

2) SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™ 1×3 AR-SFFF

The economical multipurpose option — 1% on hydrocarbons, 3% on polar solvents.

  • Concentration 1% × 3% — reduces concentrate demand by ~67% on hydrocarbon-only fires
  • Certifications: UL 162, EN 1568:2018 Parts 1–4, IMO MSC.1/Circ.1312, ICAO Level B
  • Same biodegradable, PFAS-free, siloxane-free chemistry as the AS-100 platform
  • Best fit: hydrocarbon-dominant facilities (jet fuel depots, gasoline terminals)

3) SOLBERG® RE-HEALING™ RF3 / RF6

Hydrocarbon-only fluorine-free synthetic foam. The first F3 with full FM 5130 listings — the choice for FM-insured sites.

  • Concentration: RF3 = 3%, RF6 = 6% (hydrocarbons only)
  • Certifications: UL 162, ULC S564, FM Approved per FM 5130, EN 1568 Part 3, ICAO Levels B and C
  • Excellent burnback resistance; rapid resealing “self-healing” foam blanket
  • Use in fresh, salt or brackish water — proven seawater performance
  • Best fit: refinery and crude-oil tank farms with FM compliance, ARFF tier

4) SOLBERG® RE-HEALING™ 3×3 SP-100

The first UL-listed fluorine-free 3×3 foam with the full sprinkler hardware and listing complement.

  • Concentration 3% × 3% — multipurpose hydrocarbon and polar solvent
  • Certifications: UL 162 Listed for fixed sprinkler systems with standard heads, EN 1568 Parts 3 & 4
  • Sprinkler application rates: 0.16–0.48 GPM/ft² (standard heads); 0.16 GPM/ft² (foam-water aspirated)
  • Best fit: fixed sprinkler / foam-water deluge in chemical plants, hangars, warehouses

5) SOLBERG® EVOLUTION™ 3% SFFF + SOLBERG® 3% MIL-SPEC SFFF

The DoD-grade Newtonian SFFF family. EVOLUTION 3% earned the first FM 5130 approval for a fluorine-free Newtonian foam (March 2026); 3% MIL-SPEC SFFF was the first F3 added to the U.S. DoD Qualified Products List.

  • Specification: MIL-PRF-32725 (replacement for legacy MIL-PRF-24385 AFFF)
  • Newtonian (water-like) viscosity — compatible with standard sprinkler hardware and existing AFFF infrastructure with minimal retrofit
  • EVOLUTION 3% SFFF: FM Approved per FM 5130 (first Newtonian F3), DoD QPL listed
  • No silicone or siloxane chemistries, no biopolymers, no thickening agents, no PBT profile
  • Best fit: aircraft hangars, fuel storage facilities, military bases, sprinkler retrofits

Why PFAS-Free SOLBERG

  • Zero PFAS by design — aligns with Thailand DIW PFOA ban (1 Jan 2026), EU REACH and Stockholm POPs.
  • Defensible certifications — UL 162, FM 5130, EN 1568 IA/IA, ICAO B&C, IMO 1312, LASTFIRE G/G/G, DoD QPL.
  • Real fire performance — EN 1568 IA/IA on heptane and acetone; LASTFIRE-qualified across all nozzle types used by oil majors.
  • Designed in, not bolted on — Newtonian variants drop into existing AFFF hardware; AR-SFFF runs on FireDos® FD20000 also distributed by SATU.

Applications & Industries Served

  • Oil & gas — refineries, terminals, LNG: VERSAGARD AS-100 3×3 or RE-HEALING RF3 (FM-required)
  • Petrochemical & chemical plants — polar solvents (methanol, ethanol, MTBE): VERSAGARD AS-100 3×3
  • Marine — vessels, fire boats, port: VERSAGARD AS-100 3×3 (IMO 1312)

Thailand PFAS Context — Plan Now

The DIW Notification brought PFOA and related compounds under the Hazardous Substances Act, with a use ban effective 1 January 2026. Legacy AFFF stocks are an environmental liability and a compliance issue. Owners of refineries, terminals, power plants, marine fleets and large-occupancy facilities need a transition plan covering:

  • Inventory and disposal of legacy AFFF / AR-AFFF concentrate (per hazardous-waste regulations)
  • Complete system flushing — AFFF residue contaminates new F3 foam and degrades performance
  • Re-engineering of foam proportioning hardware to handle higher AR-SFFF viscosity (typical 3,000–5,000 cP)
  • Re-validation testing — application rates, burnback, foam quality (LASTFIRE or third-party laboratory)
  • Documentation pack: product certificate, MSDS, MIL-SPEC / FM / UL listings, environmental compliance file
